Meta's (aka Facebook) Threads App is Dead

This is a follow up to my previous article entitled Social Media is a Lonely Place:

Social Media is a Lonely Place
With maybe the exception of some of your Facebook and Instagram friends, no one is reading your social media posts. Nor are they looking at your photos on any other platform. Essentially, you’re shouting into the online void.

Threads was released in the summer of 2023 most likely in response to Elon Musk buying Twitter (now X). People were leaving X in droves. Meta saw an opportunity to create a similar and competing platform. At first it showed a lot of promise - an easy to use microblogging site, without the bots that plague Twitter, a sense of community, and no ads.

Now that it's been almost nine months, the site has become littered with the same garbage as Instagram, Tik Tok, and Twitter. There are tons of bot accounts posting unoriginal viral content. Just to illustrate this, as I'm typing this article, I opened up another tab on my browser to see what would pop up. Here's one such account...

Hitoshi Tomii (@hitoshitomii1) on Threads
Content compliance advisor nice to meet you. 1.3K Followers.

I'm not even sure why Threads suggested I watch that content. There's nothing in there that even remotely interests me.

Let's see what else pops up on Threads...

Another person that posts memes and garbage. Why?

Immediately after that, is this drek...

Nothing original here...

It's really unfortunate, because I really like the concept of Threads. I just wish the internet didn't reward this kind of content. I'd much rather see original thoughts, concepts, and genuine organic growth with people sharing cerebral and unique content.
